Scriptural Novena for Writers

What is a Novena?

Novena prayers are devotional prayers with an ancient tradition, shared by Catholics, Orthodox, Anglicans, Lutherans, and other Christians. Novenas follow the biblical model of the Apostles praying for nine days for the coming of the Holy Spirit (cf. Acts 1). Typically, a novena is prayed for a specific intention.

The following novena of guided meditations was created specifically for writers and, being rooted in scripture, can be used by Christians of any denomination.

Each meditation opens with a recited prayer, invoking the Holy Spirit. Those opposed to recited prayers are welcome to replace it with spontaneous prayer.

All scripture quotations have been taken from the Revised Standard Version, Catholic Edition. Using a different translation of the Bible is, of course, perfectly fine.

Feedback on this novena is welcome! Contact Rhonda with any comments or questions.
